DELEGATE AND ALTERNATE Qualifying guidelines
The Republican National Convention will be held August 24th - 27th, 2020 in Charlotte, NC.
Anyone wishing to run as a delegate or alternate must submit a $150.00 qualifying fee and complete the qualifying form here.
Qualifying dates: Friday, January 3, 2020 - Friday, February 28, 2020
Candidates for delegate or alternate delegate must be a registered Republican as of November 2019 and complete the required forms of the Louisiana Republican Party.
If a delegate or alternate wishes to change before the end of qualifying, they must submit an additional $150.00 fee and a new qualifying form. You cannot change places once qualifying has closed.
If elected as a delegate, you are responsible for paying the costs of your transportation to and from Charlotte, your lodging and between $500 - $1,000 activity fee.
After completing qualifying form and receiving initial approval, in order to be considered as an officially endorsed candidate for delegate or alternate delegate, the following guidelines apply:
Candidates for delegate must: (1) recruit and organize 50 precinct captains, in accordance with precinct captain guidelines, or (2) Become a member of the Finance Committee.
Candidates for alternate delegate must (1) recruit and organize 25 precinct captains, in accordance with precinct captain guidelines, or (2) Become a member of the Finance Committee.
For Republican elected public officials, the requirements are reduced by 20%.
