Governor John Bel Edwards Should Pay For Taxpayer-Funded Re-Election Event From His Campaign fund

Democrat Governor John Bel Edwards Should Pay For Taxpayer-Funded Re-Election Event From His Own Campaign Fund

After forcing some of the largest tax hikes in Louisiana history on the people of his state, Democrat governor John Bel Edwards appears to have no problem using taxpayer dollars to foot the bill for his own campaign efforts.

The Governor has given no sufficient explanation for his decision to host a so-called business summit <https://apnews.com/4c6aeb98d1514e828a77ec5a2ee13b95> this week using public funds where over half the speakers are either donors to his campaign or employees of his administration.

“First Governor Edwards forced Louisiana’s working families to pay more for his big government agenda, now he wants to use their hard-earned money to fund his re-election activities,” said Andrew Bautsch, Executive Director of the Republican Party of Louisiana. “Governor Edwards continues to show an alarming contempt for the taxpayers of his state. If Governor Edwards truly cares about the people of Louisiana, he will pay for this week’s summit from his own campaign fund, not their hard-earned tax dollars.”
